Reveal Brighter, Youthful Eyes

Blepharoplasty, also known as eyelid surgery, is a cosmetic procedure that rejuvenates the upper and lower eyelids by removing or repositioning excess skin and fat, and, when needed, tightening underlying tissues. The result is a smoother, more youthful eye contour that looks refreshed. Thoughtfully performed, blepharoplasty can restore balance to your facial features while maintaining the natural character and expression that make you uniquely you.

What Does Blepharoplasty Treat?

Blepharoplasty may help address concerns such as:

  • Excess upper eyelid skin that creates a heavy or hooded appearance
  • Puffy upper eyelids caused by protruding fat deposits
  • Under-eye bags that contribute to a tired-looking appearance
  • Loose, crepey skin beneath the eyes
  • Fine contour irregularities around the upper and lower eyelids
  • Drooping upper eyelids that may partially obstruct your field of vision
  • Aged or fatigued-looking eyes despite feeling well-rested

What Are the Benefits of Blepharoplasty?

Brighten Your Expression

Removing excess skin and repositioning fat around the eyelids can restore a brighter, more refreshed appearance. Rather than changing how you look, blepharoplasty helps reveal a rested version of yourself while preserving the natural character and expression of your eyes.

Open Your Eyes

Lifting heavy upper eyelids can create a more open, alert appearance. For some patients, removing excess skin may also improve peripheral vision when drooping eyelids interfere with everyday activities such as reading, driving, or using digital devices.

Refine Delicate Contours

The eyelids are among the face’s most intricate features. Thoughtfully refining these delicate contours can improve facial harmony, soften signs of aging, and create smoother transitions between the eyes, brows, and cheeks for naturally balanced, elegant results.

Achieve Lasting Confidence

Because eyelid surgery addresses structural changes rather than temporarily masking them, the results are long-lasting. Looking more refreshed and approachable often helps you feel more confident in professional settings, social interactions, and everyday moments.

What Happens During Blepharoplasty?

Your procedure begins with Dr. Weinstein carefully marking your eyelids to preserve natural proportions while addressing excess skin, protruding fat, and lax tissues. Depending on your treatment plan, you may receive local anesthesia with sedation or general anesthesia.

For upper eyelid surgery, Dr. Weinstein places the incision within the natural eyelid crease. For lower eyelid surgery, the incision is typically hidden just beneath the lower lash line or inside the lower eyelid when no skin removal is needed. Through these incisions, Dr. Weinstein removes or repositions fat, trims excess skin, and may tighten underlying muscles to create smoother, more youthful eyelid contours. The incisions are then closed with fine sutures to encourage healing while preserving your natural expressions.

FAQs

Most patients experience swelling and bruising during the first one to two weeks. You can return to many non-strenuous activities within several days, but strenuous workouts and heavy lifting should be avoided for a few weeks or until cleared by the surgeon. As swelling gradually resolves, your refreshed eye contours become increasingly visible and refined.
